New Junior Surf programme released

Monday, 5 October 2015

Surf Life Saving New Zealand is pleased to announce the release of its new Junior Surf programme.

Updating the programme was one of the priority projects to be completed during the 2015 off-season. As such, it underwent a full review by an appointed Junior Surf Advisory Group who provided feedback, knowledge and advice throughout the project.

The updated programme meets the needs of the current surf environment and has been refocussed to include better linkages and content for both lifesaving and sport.

Junior Surf is designed to enrich the lives of young members from the age of seven so they can have fun and develop their skills to safely enjoy the beach. They learn the skills required to go on and gain their Surf Lifeguard Award from the age of 14.

Each club runs its own Junior Surf programme. Most run it on a Sunday morning or afternoon from October through to March.

As part of the release, over the next two weeks each club will be sent one printed hard copy of the manual. Clubs can then purchase additional hard copies via the SLSNZ shop.
