Surf Life Saving New Zealand is currently conducting a full
review and update of our Junior Surf Programme, Surf Lifesaving
Certificate and Rookie Lifeguard Award programme.
As part of our Member Education development plan, updating the
current Junior Surf programme is one of the priority projects to be
completed during this year's off-season and as such, we have
employed a short term contractor to deliver the updated Junior Surf
Shelley Morris will be working alongside a new Junior Surf
Advisory Group which has been established to provide knowledge,
feedback and advice throughout the project.
Shelley comes from a Lifeguarding and Surf Sport background with
Ocean Beach Kiwi in Hawke's Bay. She is a secondary school teacher,
has worked with NZQA and is a graphic designer.
She will undertake a number of tasks including updating and
reviewing the current Junior Surf programme to meet the needs of
the current junior surf environment. This updated programme will be
refocused to include better linkages and content for both
lifesaving and sport.
The final Junior Surf programme is expected to be completed by
October 1, 2015.
