ILS Sport Commission vacancy

Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) is seeking expressions of interest from members who wish to be nominated onto the International Lifesaving Federation Sport Commission.

SLSNZ is able to nominate one person however there are however no guarantees that a NZ nomination will be successful as the ILS is undertaking a global search for candidates..

The person being sought should be an 'all-rounder' who has had experience across a broad range of surf sport areas. They are someone who can demonstrate knowledge and understanding in areas such as event management, officiating, high performance, rules and specifications and athlete development.

They will also have outstanding relationship management skills and the ability to communicate to a diverse group of stakeholders with real impact. Ideally they are someone who has already had some international exposure at this level, with pre-existing contacts and networks.

This position is unpaid however will be resourced and supported by SLSNZ. While it requires some international travel to attend meetings (normally once per year for a few days), the majority of work is done online via email.

Applicants must be prepared to liaise and respond quickly to requests and participate fully in the Commission work programme. A lot of the work is structured around the biannual cycle of Rescue events, with the time period immediately after a championship being particularly productive.

A selection panel will review the applications, conduct interviews as necessary and make a recommendation to the SLSNZ Board for submission to ILS by 15th March 2105.
