Fins

There are a number of different types of fins available for Pool Lifesaving Events. This is a basic overview of the products:

Brands - Special Fins and Speed Fins have a reliable track record in fin manufactuing and generally their fins last longer than other brands.
Firmness - soft fins are great for those athlete who don't have great kick strength, so the better and stronger your kick is the hard the fin you could potentially use. If you cannot drive a hard stiffer fin then this might produce a decrease in times compared to a softer fin that can be driven throughout the length of the race.
Speed-Fins - these are great fins for the elite athletes but if you aren't in the top tier then the special fins will be fine to race in at a lower cost.
