THE 90 MILE CLASSIC IRB CHALLENGE
The 90 Mile Classic IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) Challenge starts at Scott's Point at the north end of New Zealand's iconic 90 Mile Beach, with crews travelling south to Ahipara, Northland.
This years event will be hosted by Surf Life Saving Northern Region in conjunction with Far North Surf Rescue and we look forward to welcoming you to the 90 Mile Classic IRB Challenge for 2010.
The first 90 Mile Classic IRB Challenge took place in September 1993 when 10 crews participated from throughout the North Island. In 2009 we saw 33 crews make the journey north to the start line.
The race is run in stages to further test each crews skills and stamina as well as the reliability of equipment. The top crews are expected to take 2.5 - 3 hours depending on conditions!
