Club Development Officer (CDO) – Christchurch and Capital Coast (two positions)

Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) is seeking two self-motivated, innovative professionals to provide direct and practical support to members and clubs. The CDO will support clubs by sharing best practice and ensuring volunteer time is effective and provides solutions to problems identified by clubs.

The CDO will:

  • work alongside clubs providing support and guidance for the club to achieve its aspirations and goals; 
  • ensure clubs have access to training and development support for their members;
  • aid in the delivery of the regional events and membership development opportunities; 
  • act as an advocate for clubs;
  • work alongside a dynamic and motivated team of CDO’s from around New Zealand.

We currently have a two vacancies – one for the Christchurch area and one for the Capital Coast area (Wellington/Kapiti coast). These full time positions will be based in Christchurch and Wellington respectively. The successful candidates will have relevant experience and qualifications relating to club development, excellent communication skills and be passionate about, and committed to, making a positive difference.

Finance Officer

We are seeking an experienced Finance Officer to manage our Grants Administration process and provide back-up to our Finance Manager. Busy and varied this role covers everything from processing payroll to sourcing grant funding opportunities.

A full-time position based in our Wellington office this role is pivotal to the organisation, and works closely with both the Finance and Fundraising teams.

The successful candidate will have relevant work experience and qualifications relating to the role.

Head Coach, Omanu Beach SLSC

We need somebody to take a club packed full of potential to the next level.

The structures are in place but we need somebody to implement our coaching and competition plan. Ultimately, you will be responsible for delivering a coaching program that excites and retains our competitors and lifeguards.

Some of the benefits for the successful person include:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • a minimum of three years coaching experience with children from 10 to 19 years old
  • 5 years surf lifesaving experience in either a coaching role or as a competitor
  • great communication skills (to both adults and children)
  • organisation skills
  • some form of management experience
  • flexibility to travel to competitions in the weekends when required

Club Coach, Trust Waikato Whangamata Surf Life Saving Club 

Trust Waikato Whangamata SLSC provides a surf sport programme for its members, primarily over the summer months. The current programme focuses on a performance squad of athletes aged 10 years through to senior level. The performance squad competes at local and national surf carnivals over the summer season.

We have recently had some great success at the U14 Nationals and at now Senior Nationals as our athletes move into the older age groups.

We are seeking a suitably qualified coach who can help continue this momentum and further develop our surf sport programme.

The successful applicant will be a surf lifeguard with appropriate surf sport experience in a number of disciplines, and with appropriate coaching qualifications. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential in providing professional coaching services to our club membership.

The position is full time from October through to March with some involvement prior to the start of this period. We are willing to tailor the role for the right applicant.
